New Benches

We were fortunate to have been given a grant from the Leadenboot (again) last year towards some new benches – thank you to them and to everyone who helps out on the Leadenboot day. We also put some of the Best Kept Village competition winnings towards this and have managed to purchase 3 lovely new wrought iron benches. The benches were purchased in the winter sale to get a better deal. Two are in the village green area and one is replacing the wooden bench out of the village along Weag’s Bridge road towards Weags’s Bridge (not quite finished as this article is published).
The parish council ( Stan & Alex) dug the base holes. Stan made the shuttering, Lee brought two of his workers from Manifold Meats along with some concrete and they laid the bases and finally Stan fixed them in place. Thank you to everyone who helped. They are good quality so should last quite a while, even with Grindon’s weather!
