Best Kept Village Competition 2026

After our success at last years competition, Grindon is entering the Best Kept Village Competition again.It is a special year for the competition as it celebrates its 70th anniversary.

As well as the main competition, there are other competitions to enter:

There is the Spirit of the Best Kept Village

• A poster depicting some scene or message regarding BKVC  for ages 5-7 and 8-11
• Or some artwork for 11-17 year old or adults with the same criteria
• Earth Film Festival  for under 25 year olds – email clerk@grindonparishcouncil.gov.uk for more details
• Countryside on Camera Award (all ages) We encourage everyone to submit their best photo of the Staffordshire countryside
• Inspiring Groups This award recognises groups leading on countryside and/or environmental issues . We are looking for a group of people that are active (physically or through lobbying) that are trying to make a difference in the countryside environment.
• Trailblazer Award This award would recognise individuals who are going the extra mile to protect their local countryside. Similarly to ‘inspiring groups’ We are looking for individuals that are active (physically or through lobbying) that are trying to make a difference in the countryside environment. Their activity can be anything to do with nature, climate, sustainability.
• Made in Rural Staffordshire Award  This category celebrates local businesses who provide local produce, crafts and everything in between! The size of the business doesn’t matter. But they cannot be just located in the area, they must contribute to the local economy or benefit of the community. That could be by local produce, ‘giving back’ etc.

If you would like to enter any of these competitions, please have your entry back to the clerk either by hand, post in the village hall letter box or by email to clerk@grindonparishcouncil.gov.uk by 24th April at the latest as the competition closes at the end of April and we need time to check the entries before sending. Thanks
