3. Declaration of Interest C Stanish (Parish Clerk)
4.Minutes of previous meeting held on Monday 5th June 2023 reviewed (signed by chair NG post meeting)
5.Matters arising from last meeting
1. Clerk now has email address and phone numbers of council members
2. Lengthsman vacancy has been advertised in village newsletter, no response as yet. Other parishes also have vacancies.
Under 21’s are not fully covered under the insurance.
3. NG fed back to the councillors after attending the “20 is Plenty” meeting. Doesn’t really apply to Grindon, 20 is only an advisory limit and is not legally binding. Agreed that Parish Council would not join the campaign.
4. State of Village Benches and picnic tables – still ongoing. SS mentioned resetting the small posts around the play area, agreed. GN has postcrete available.
5. Highways – (a) cattle grid by church issue yet to be reported (b) gate knocked down at Weags Bridge reported.
6. NG told village hall that Parish Council will meet every 1st Monday of the month, to let VHC know if council will not be having a meeting.
7. Re Playground: JP has 5 quotes for swings. One company would like to send a rep Thursday 3rd August at 9.30am, agreed to meet. Swing costs from £2-3,000. Trim Trail costs £1,300- £9,000 but could have planning issues as quite conspicuous. Discussion re certification of equipment
• Discussion about local funding pots. GN explained the history and usage of the Grindon Consolidation Charity. Request information about the Grindon Action Group funds.
• To invite fund managers, villagers and representatives from other groups to the meeting in September, to discuss what they would like for the village, with a view to setting up a subcommittee to facilitate fundraising.
• Suggestions such as new village signs, reinstate information board by church car park as well as play area.
• NG spoke to owners of Beeston Tor. The owner will install the handle if it is provided. NG asked SMBG to fund this, they asked if Grindon PC could do so however, as Beeston Tor is in Waterhouses not Grindon Parish this was declined.
6. Announcement from Chair
1. Harvest Festival in Church Sunday 24th September 11am and Harvest Supper Monday 25th September in Village Hall with pie supper and auction of produce.
2. Hedgehog Rolling on Sunday 6th July. Permission granted to allow vehicles onto the village green. GN agreed that his field can be used for parking.
7.Planning
1. NP/SM/0623/0625 Ryebrook, Martinslow Lane, Ford – no objections, GN would like paper copy of any future planning, JP to print for him.
2. Decision NP/SM/0423/0449 Hurdon Lowe – granted
8.Correspondence
1. Voluntary Sector News – mentions a members pack, need to chase up
2. Climate change online survey, councillors can complete individually
3. SPCA Training – Councillors Fundamentals online training £30, alternatively a group meeting could be organised, costs to be investigated. Other training such as Finance for Councillors, fully booked, there is a waiting list. Clerks 1 to 1 training £30, agreed to fund.
4. PDNPA Parishes Day 7th October 2023 NG & CS to attend, JP on reserve list.
5. JP to follow up opportunities for projects with Staffordshire Wildlife Trust
9.Finance
1. Bank account changes still ongoing, unable to pay anything until this is completed.
2. Clerks employment – contract almost complete, training agreed
3. Windows software agreed to purchase for clerks new laptop
10.Website
1. Clerk to sort Privacy & Accessibility notices for the website.
2. Happy to use the tree logo
3. Agreed to have photographs of each councillor and clerk on the website.

2. Church planning issue raised by villagers, to email an enquiry to PDNPA
