Grindon Village Hall will be the venue for a celebratory Afternoon tea on Bank Holiday Monday 5th May from 3-5pm, everyone is welcome.
There is no charge but we would like to raise some money through donations for a plaque or sign. This is to make everyone aware that the church clock is the Grindon memorial to those who fought in the war. We are not sure how many people are aware of this and it would be a fitting thing to resource in this anniversary year.
We are hoping for a small display regarding Grindon in the war years and ask that anyone who served in any of the armed services at any time or anyone with relatives who served, if you have any photos or memorabilia that you would be happy to lend us to put on display, we would be most appreciative. Also, any war time photos in general especially of Grindon folk. Please put them in an envelope with your name and details of who or what the photographs show and either post them in the village hall post box or hand them to any councillor. We will take good care of them and give them back to you once the event is over. Thanks
Lastly, anyone who would like to bake a cake or traybake, we would be very grateful.
